Doug is Grant McGregor’s Field Manager. Doug provides overall responsibility for our Projects and change related requests, managing all aspects of Grant McGregor’s project team. Doug has helped develop and shape the high-quality support process at Grant McGregor making it smooth and effective.
Doug has been at Grant McGregor for six years and had previously been based in the IT department at ScrewFix for five years, Doug has gained a wealth of experience in both IT and people skills. Through his positions as Account Manager and Desktop Support, he gained a high level of efficiency and professionalism. Grant McGregor benefits from his expert knowledge of hardware and networking and his strong personal skills.
Doug’s key skill is his ability to identify and implement solutions to problems that will benefit both the customer and the IT team. He has introduced effective workflows and alerts to escalate issues to the correct people at the right time and provides a superior level of customer support to clients. Doug is also a GFI, Microsoft and WhatsUpGold Certified Professional.

Give an example of something (service-wise) you recently did for a client that made them more than happy. More than usual…
Grant McGregor recently undertook a project to move one of our clients to a new office, this included providing them with a completely new IT infrastructure.
The project was a large and complex project with a number of 3rd parties involved in the process.
With the help of the Grant McGregor team I was able to execute the project in a timely fashion and have all parts completed ready for the client to move in.
Our client was very happy with the project as everything went according to plan and the resulting IT systems were a great improvement for them.!
What makes you laugh heartily every time and why?
I love light-hearted slap-stick comedy that hits you at unexpected moments. Lee Evans is a good example of the type of comedy I like.
If you had a whole week out to do something you really wanted and were given £1000 gratis to do it, what would you do and why?
It would be a tough call between going on a cruise around the Arctic Circle and going snowboarding. Either of those would be wonderful.

The variety of IT work I do between different types of clients, companies and people means that, unlike a lot of jobs, it’s hard to get bored. But working in a smaller team where the emphasis on self-development is great; there is a very personal approach and you don’t just feel like another number.
