About Us

Kevin

Despite graduating in Information Management from University of Abertay Dundee age the age of 22, Kevin did not commence his formalised career in IT until ten years later. The intervening years saw Kevin gain diverse experience fulfilling, various Local Authority Financial, Administrative and Information Systems roles, a short spell with NHS Tayside and a spell as a National Teams Administrator for the Scottish FA.

Commencing in IT with a Managed Service Provider based in Aberdeen, Kevin’s first assignment was to provide Service Desk / Desktop Support cover to a large Oil & Gas company for an initial two week spell. The assignment ultimately lasted three years as Kevin quickly absorbed the ‘on the job’ learning available. During this and subsequent shorter term assignments Kevin gained knowledge in supporting on-site, agile and off-shore users, network troubleshooting, managing and developing AV solutions and supporting Oil & Gas industry wide applications.

Kevin joined Grant McGregor as a Field Service Engineer and is the companies first to be based out of Dundee, where he not only supports the local Client base but also those in the North East and Fife. Kevin continues to study towards furthering his previously achieved ITIL & CompTIA accreditations, alongside a volunteer role as a Goalkeeping Coach in Women’s Football.

Fantastical Fact File

What’s your favourite film in the whole world and why?
Anything that makes me laugh really, have a lot of love for comedies with really sharp script writing. AirPlane! / Naked Gun series has me in kinks. A more recently example would be Anchorman.

What makes you laugh heartily every time and why?
My kids seem to have perfected their comedic timing, so they are always good value. Apparently “Daddy has a big tummy”, although I suspect they may have heard that from a particular cartoon pig. Also, some of the conversations with the goalkeepers that I’ve coached can be quite entertaining.

If you had a whole week out to do something you really wanted and were given £1000 gratis to do it, what would you do and why?
I’d actually like to go back to Iceland (the country, not the retailer) and do the full tourist routine this time. Oddly wasn’t high on the list of priorities when visiting to watch the Scotland National Football Team!  Might need more than £1000 true enough…..

Tell us something that you personally aim to achieve inside the next 5 years.
Take your pick from run a 10k, kick a ball half the length of a football pitch or fly a plane.

Give us one reason that you wanted to work with GM…
After working only on fixed sites in IT, I was keen to get mobile and deal with a wide and diverse client base, with the associated increased learning that comes with it. That and 3 years of driving up the A90 is plenty thanks. I’m delighted that the post is playing as I thought it would.
